Travel and Skin

The above hints on dealing with your skin in different climates apply not only to where you live but where you travel. Since travel often takes us to places with varying weather conditions, all of the preceding hints may be applicable to trips we may take at one time or another.

But traveling also demands other plans. For traveling it is also necessary to take along your skin care products. I keep sample sizes of each of my creams moisturizer, eye cream, baby oil (which can also serve as a makeup remover), soap, astringent, cleanser and brush, and a scrub so when I travel I can use the same products I always use, without having to pack and carry large jars and bottles. if you don't have sample sizes of your products, put a little of each in small plastic bottles made for traveling and label them (or mark them with different colors of nail polish) so you will always know which cream is which.

I also carry an atomizer of water and one of perfume, a hand cream (perfect for use on an airplane when my skin gets so dry), a tube of Aloe Vera gel (great for skin care and emergency burns), a tube of petroleum jelly (a good lip gloss and moisturizer) and a drying stick for those unwelcome pimples and blemishes.

Since I fly on a lot of airplanes, I have also developed ways to take care of my skin while flying. The perfect way to fly would be to get on an airplane with no makeup on only moisturizer on the skin so it will not get dehydrated in the cabin air. But for most women this is unrealistic for whatever reasons, we want to look attractive on the airplane. Thus, I make up my face basically as I do every morning , except that I put on more moisturizer under my eyes and less makeup everywhere everything is applied with a lighter touch to let my skin breathe.

I have learned through experience that on an airplane skin dehydrates and absorbs makeup. So I keep an atomizer filled with water to occasionally spray my face, and I touch up my makeup at the end of the flight. I also do my "drink a lot of water" routine and the flight attendants are never surprised because they know better than anyone the toll that airplane travel takes on the skin.
