Deep-Pore Cleansing Facial

This cleansing facial can be made with multani mitti. Take 8 ounces of multani mitti, 2 ounce of beeswax, 2 ounces of lanolin and 1 pint of rose water. After melting the wax with lanolin (preferably in a double boiler), mix the rose water thoroughly. Add a few drops of essence, if desired. Now stir this mixture in multani mitti until you get a smooth paste. Left over mask can be stored in a jar.

During winter, the facial skin gets all dried up and starts looking sallow. Rub almond, olive or peanut oil with your finger tips over your face and neck. Now gently pat a few drops of warm water and then lemon juice over the first two layers. After about a couple of minutes start rubbing your face with your fingers and all the dirt will start peeling off.

During summer, apart from using mild bleaching lotions mentioned earlier, wash your face with cucumber juice before putting on the make up.

Carrot is considered to be very beneficial for the skin. It should be eaten in plenty as well as applied on the face in pulp or juice form. Carrots contain lots of Vitamin A.

Parsley is good for an oily skin. It should be boiled in water for about fifteen minutes and strained. Apple juice or celery Juice may be added to it. To make it into a paste, mix with cream, honey or egg white or with multani mitti.

A seeds facial is very effective in making your complexion bright and the skin soft and smooth. For this facial, grind equal amounts of dried seeds of melon, gourd, pumpkin and cucumber, mix some fresh cream or honey in this powder. Then pat it on the face and leave it on for 15 minutes. If the paste is too thick, add some milk to dilute it.
